The short version. Pay once, use it on up to 2 of your Macs, keep it. Your data stays on your Mac. If it isn't for you, ask for a refund within 14 days. The tomato's opinions are just opinions.
These terms cover the Prompt-o-mato app for macOS and this website. By downloading, buying or using the app, you agree to them. "We" and "us" means Nitin Panwar, the developer of Prompt-o-mato.
Your license
Prompt-o-mato is a one-time purchase. Buying it gives you a personal, non-transferable license to use the app on up to 2 Macs that you own or use. The license doesn't expire, and updates are included.
A license is for you. Please don't share, publish or resell license keys. If a key is shared publicly or used on more Macs than it allows, we may deactivate it. You can move your license to a different Mac by deactivating it on one of the old ones first.
The app, its artwork (yes, including the tomato) and its code remain ours. The license lets you use the app; it doesn't transfer ownership of it.
The free trial and the free features
New installs get a 7-day trial with everything unlocked. When it ends, the Pro features lock and the free features keep working, with no time limit. Nothing you created is deleted, and buying a license brings the Pro features back.
Acceptable use
Use Prompt-o-mato for what it's for: keeping yourself company, healthy and focused. Please don't:
- crack, bypass or tamper with the licensing or the trial;
- redistribute, resell or sublicense the app or its keys;
- use it to watch or monitor other people's screens or activity without their clear consent;
- use it in a way that breaks the law or someone else's rights.
Privacy, in summary
Your sessions, history, settings and everything you tell the tomato stay on your Mac. They never reach us, so we can't see them, share them or recover them. Back up your Mac if your history matters to you.
If you choose a cloud AI provider with your own API key, the app name, window title and on-screen text it judges are sent from your Mac straight to that provider, not to us. This website uses Google Analytics only if you accept the cookie banner. The full details are in the privacy policy.
AI providers and AI output
If you use your own API key, you're responsible for that key and for what your provider charges. The provider's own terms and privacy policy apply to whatever is sent to them.
The tomato's lines and its judgments about what's on your screen come from keyword rules or AI models, and they can be wrong. It may call real work a distraction, miss an actual distraction, or say something that misses the mark. Treat its nudges as friendly suggestions, not facts, and don't rely on them for anything important.
Purchases and refunds
Purchases are handled by Dodo Payments, our merchant of record. Dodo Payments processes your payment, handles sales tax and VAT, and issues your receipt; their terms also apply to the purchase. If something isn't right, ask for a refund within 14 days of buying and you'll get your money back. Contact us or reply to your Dodo Payments receipt.
No warranty
Prompt-o-mato is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. It nudges and reminds; it doesn't guarantee focus, health or productivity, and it isn't medical advice. Reminders can be missed, for example if your Mac is asleep or the app isn't running.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost data, profits or time, arising from your use of the app or this website. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for your license. Some places don't allow these limits, in which case they apply only as far as the law permits.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time, for example when the app gains new features. When we do, we'll change the date at the top of this page. If a change is significant, we'll mention it in the release notes. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated terms.
