The short version. The app has no account, no analytics and no server. What you do stays on your Mac. This website counts visits with Google Analytics, and only if you say yes.
What the app keeps, and where
Prompt-o-mato stores your focus sessions, history, streaks, settings, categories and everything you tell the tomato in its own files on your Mac. None of it is sent to us. We have no server to send it to, so we can't see it, sell it, share it or recover it. You can export everything to a single file and import it on another Mac; that file goes wherever you put it.
Reading your screen
To notice when you drift, the app looks at the frontmost app name, the window title and, depending on the mode you pick, some on-screen text. With keyword rules, Apple Intelligence or the built-in model, that all happens on your Mac and nothing leaves it.
Cloud AI, only with your own key
If you choose a cloud provider (Anthropic, OpenAI, Gemini, Groq or OpenRouter) and add your own API key, the app name, window title and on-screen text it judges are sent from your Mac straight to that provider. They don't pass through us. The provider's privacy policy applies to that data. Ollama runs wherever you run it, usually on your own Mac. Your key is stored on your Mac.
The few network requests the app makes
- License activation. When you activate or check a license, the app sends your license key and your Mac's name to Dodo Payments so it can count your 2 Macs.
- The built-in model. If you turn it on, the model and its runtime are downloaded once from Hugging Face and GitHub.
- Go outside nudge (optional). If you turn it on and allow location, the app sends a rounded location (about 10 km) to Open-Meteo to check whether it's sunny.
Calendar events, music playing in Spotify or Apple Music, and the permissions you grant (like Accessibility) are used on your Mac only.
Purchases
Payments are handled by Dodo Payments, our merchant of record. They receive your name, email and payment details to process the order, issue your receipt and handle refunds, under their own privacy policy. We see the order and the email address it was sent to, so we can help with your license.
This website
The website uses Google Analytics to count visits and clicks (like the Buy and Download buttons), but only after you choose "Accept" on the cookie banner. Until then, Google Analytics isn't loaded at all. Your choice is remembered in your browser's local storage, and you can change it any time with "Cookie settings" in the footer. IP addresses are anonymized.
Children
Prompt-o-mato isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect anything from them. Since the app doesn't collect personal data, there's nothing of theirs for us to hold.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top. If the app ever starts sending something new off your Mac, we'll say so here and in the release notes first.
